This work was commissioned by the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in honor of the 70th anniversary to the end of World War II and the Second Sino-Japanese War. The work runs for 50 minutes and is divided into two halves, with the first half being an instrumental cycle and the second half a vocal one.
